Youth Education Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for engaging middle and high school students within the Dutchess County Public Education System and bring about awareness in teen dating violence prevention, awareness programs, non-violent conflict resolution, and family violence, to name a few. The Youth Education outreach Coordinator will working collaboratively with school personnel and community based resources in Dutchess County to establish enduring programs around teen dating and family violence. The Youth Education Outreach Counselor is expected to work cooperatively with other staff, specifically the Lead Youth and Family Counselor, in the planning and implementation of the work done with thie children in the schools and the community based groups. Goals are to address the 13 school distrcts in Dutchess County (16 middle and 16 high schools) along with 36 community based groups. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate prevention programs to assemblies and small group presentations; as well as community based groups. Integrate trauma senstitive, strength based perspective in to all interactions, activites, and counseling of studetns, families, and school personnel. Teach and role model non-violent problem solving skills. Develop, encourage, and monitor appropriate use of social media tools (facebook, twitter, and blogs) to engage teens surrounding issues around dating and family violence. Create education program materials such as, but not limited too: power point presentations, scripted presentation for large assemblies, posters, pamphlets, and additional educational materials. Monitor supplies, printing needs for education program materials, and distribution of materials while working within budgetary allowances. Ability to work within and balance a budget is necessary. Public Speaking and Motivational Skills are essential.
Hours: Full-Time 9am to 5pm (with flexibility for some evenings and weekends)
Non-Exempt Position - $30,000 to 33,000 annualized + overtime
Education: Minimum of a Bachelors Degree preferred with 3 years work experience, or Associates Degree with 5 years of work experience in Domestic Violence.
Location: Dutchess County - main office is in Poughkeepsie - required to travel around the county.

Relief Counselor in Shelter (Per Diem) (Updated on 11/17/2011)
Relief Counselor's substitute for regular staff on a per diem basis. Job duties include answering the domestic violence hotline, providing information and referrals, meeting residents’ practical needs within the shelter, conducting intake and discharge interviews, and providing crisis intervention and emotional support for resident women and their dependent children. Most relief coverage is required during non-traditional business hours. 10 or 12 hour shifts are typical. The ideal candidate will possess confidence and the ability to work independently. Prior human service experience, particularly in the domestic violence field and/or in a residential setting (group home, shelter, or other community residence), strongly preferred. Basic computer literacy and a clean, valid driver’s license that meets the standards of the agency’s insurance carrier required.
Hours: Vary - on call basis (typically nights, weekends, and holidays)
Non-Exempt Position - $12.00 per hour (after 100 hours of strong service individuals can increase their hourly rate to $12.50)
Location: Dutchess County - 2 locations
