We Always Accept Gift Cards:

Dollar Stores, Target, Walmart, local Grocery Stores, etc. These allow us to assist survivors with other household needs when they transition out of the shelter program. Gift Cards are also wonderful gifts for families that experience Holidays, Birthdays, and other special events while in shelter. $10 equals ten items at a dollar store, which could be a basic mop, broom, dustpan, small trash can, cleaning products… a starter set for a survivor’s new apartment! 

Brookhaven:

  • Non-perishable food
  • Diapers & Wipes
  • New or Gently Used Plastic Storage Totes with Lids (15 gallon size and larger).
  • New twin and full sized bed-in-a-bag sets to comfort survivors and families and give them sets to take with them
  • New Luggage so that survivors and families do not have to use garbage bags for belongings when they have finished our programs
  • Toiletries (full size) / Feminine care products
  • Cleaning / Laundry supplies
  • New or Gently Used Household Tools

Poughkeepsie Shelter:

  • Household Goods: Notebooks or journals, wall calendars or monthly pocket calendars, alarm clocks, hair blow dryers, laundry bags, nightlights, batteries (esp. AAA and AA).
  • New or Gently Used Plastic Storage Totes with Lids (15 gallon size and larger).
  • New Personal Care Items: African American Hair Products, Hair Rubber Bands, and Head Wraps; Washcloths or Loofahs; Chapstick; Feminine Care Products; Hair Ties; Nail Clippers & Tweezers.
  • New Pajamas, Slippers, Plastic Flip-Flops and Bathrobes for children and adults (both misses and women’s sizes).
  • New Sweatpants and Sweatshirts, Plain T-shirts for adults (both misses and women’s sizes).
  • New Socks and Underwear for children and adults (both misses and women’s sizes). New or gently used bras (all sizes).
  • New Baby Toiletries: Baby Bath Wash, Shampoo, Lotion, Diaper Cream; Size 4 & 5 Diapers, Wipes. New or gently used and sanitized sippy cups, plates, baby spoons, pacifiers, diaper genies, baby monitors, crib sheets.
  • New or gently used Bath towels, Hand towels, Dish towels; Bed linens (washed and clean, no rips or stains) for twin-sized beds only: sheets (fitted & flat); Pillowcases; Twin or Queen size comforters or other large blankets. We are not in need of ‘throw blankets’ at this time. ·        
  • New Pillows
  • New or gently used Household Goods: Pots with Lids and Frying pans/Skillets (all sizes); Flatware (esp. forks), Cooking Utensils (not BBQ sets), Slow Cookers, Large Food Storage Containers, Large Casserole Dishes/Lasagna Pans/13x9 baking pans. 

Northeast Shelter:

  • New Undergarments (underwear, bras, socks, undershirts) for women, teens, and boys
  • New blankets and twin-sized bed-in-a-bag sets
  • Pajamas / Bathrobes / Slippers for women and boys
  • New Pillows
  • Bath Towels
  • New twin sized bed-in-a-bag sets to comfort survivors and families and give them sets to take with them
