The Grace Smith House Clothesline Project is a powerful visual display of t-shirts created by survivors of domestic violence, or their loved ones. Each shirt is decorated to represent a particular victim's experience. This emotional expression is part of a national movement designed to bear witness to these experiences, help those impacted with the healing process, and to educate, document and raise our community's awareness of the extent of domestic and sexual violence problem.
 

This year to mark our 42 years of providing domestic violence services, we exhibited the Clothesline Project, with a larger than ever collection of t-shirts created by victims and their loved ones. There were two gallery exhibitions, one in Poughkeepsie, NY and one in Rhinebeck, NY. These exhibitions help to increase awareness on the prevalence of domestic violence and to start the conversation about ways to discuss and help those affected by domestic violence.

With hundreds of t-shirts collected throughout the last 30 years, Grace Smith House hopes to exhibit this collection at different Dutchess County communities. If you are interested in possibly holding an exhibition, please email office@gracesmithhouse.org

All proceeds from the Clothesline Project directly goes to those we serve, and helps Grace Smith House continue to be an open door for the victims of domestic violence.
